Risky Laundry in Mexico

Crisis Set to Get Worse in Oaxaca

Protests continue in Oaxaca, MexicoIt looked like things might improve in Oaxaca, Mexico.  But now conditions have deteriated.  More protesters have been shot.  Fox has sent in the army.  There is not telling what might happen.

Unfortunately this is not a safe place to be right now for anyone.

I hope that the unrest does not spread throughout Mexico.  I'll be keeping a close eye on this one as I have a trip planed for the end of this year.

Crisis may be Ending in Oaxaca, Mexico

Travel-Street-Market-Oaxaca-Mexico-DSC00376According to World Travel Watch, the strikes and protests in Oaxaca, Mexico may be coming to an end.

This is welcome news in deed.  I can hardly imagine what Oaxaxca is like now, given my experience with an easy city and wonderful people.

I just hope that the businesses that are dependant on the tourist trade can survive until tourists start coming back.

Mean while, consider a trip to Oaxaca in the near future.  There will be high vacancy, few crowds, and probably prices will drop a bit - tourists have pushed up the prices in that city over recent years.
