Good Reading While In Mexico (especially Yucatan)?
I like to bring a book with me to places I visit that is related to the geographical area. For example, I read “A Suitable Boy” while in India, and felt more connected to the book and the country.
I am looking for a similar book-region match for my upcoming trip to the Yucatan Peninsula.
One possibility is “Incidents of Travel in Yucatan” - which I have from the library, but I’ve left it too late to order on-line (and I haven’t found a copy of it in local book stores yet).
Do you have a suggestion for a book (novel, biography, history …) set in the Yucatan Peninsula, that is a good, entertaining read, and provides insight into Mexican life (contemporary or historic)?
If you do, please leave a comment! Even if you read this long after it has been posted, comment anyhow - this will surely benefit other readers.
